A note from VegasDesi Editor, Swadeep Nigam
Dear VegasDesi Reader:
Following the just-concluded primary election, I have succeeded in moving on to the November general election for the position of Regent, University System District 3. I have wide support for my candidacy from various community groups, both political and social, and I am now asking for my community’s help in succeeding this Fall. I have been a member of the Southern Nevada South Asian community for over 35 years, and have seen their voice and influence grow in local politics. It is my hope that this diverse, vibrant and successful community will now support my efforts to serve as Regent.
I have been actively involved in many community groups and strongly believe in education as a backbone to a productive and inclusive society. Higher education was my gateway to a long career in public finance and gave me the necessary tools to be an active participant in civic activities. On the political front, I served as founding President of the South Asian Political Network Alliance (SAPNA), a non-partisan PAC focused on local and state politics in Nevada. I have a keen understanding of the Southern Nevada political process and have actively sought inroads between political groups and the South Asian community throughout the valley. Campaigns are often expensive and in order to convey a meaningful, effective message to prospective voters, I must appeal to my community for assistance in raising funds. I would very much appreciate your help in continuing my campaign, in the form of a donation, which would assist me in advocating for the students of Southern Nevada. Below, I have included a variety of ways in which you can contribute any amount to see my campaign succeed:
- Check: Payable to ‘Nigam for Regent’, sent to 30 Contra Costa Ave. Henderson, NV 89052
- Venmo: @Swadeep-Nigam
I am committed to excellence in education for all and if given the opportunity to serve on the Board of Regents, I will make it a priority to represent the uniquely diverse population of students in Nevada. I want to thank loyal VegasDesi readers like you, for their continued support of the website and will greatly appreciate your contribution to my candidacy.
Thank You,
Swadeep Nigam
