Dr. Mohammed A. Shafi was named the Top Gastroenterologist in Nevada by HealthTap. The  HealthTap Top Doctor Competition (Winter 2013) brought together the world’s best and most helpful online and mobile medical experts to compete for both local and national titles.

Dr.Mohammed A.Shafi is a double Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He received his medical degree from Gandhi Medical College of Hyderabad India and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Wayne State University. He completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital. Upon completion of his training, Dr. Shafi moved to Nevada. He is an Associate Partner at Digestive Disease Specialists and Digestive Disease Centers.  He is also part of the staff at St. Rose Siena Hospital and has been practicing Gastroenterology in Southern Nevada since 1995. His work includes Specialist consultation and performance of endoscopy and colonoscopies for diagnosing digestive problems. He is also involved in clinical teaching for the medical students at Touro University.

Dr. Shafi has published his research work in various leading journals of medicine. He was the first one to report the Familial Inheritance of Gastric Cancer (Linitis Plastica) in the Annals of Internal Medicine. He did extensive research in the pathogenesis and causation of Colon cancer and is a member of the American College Of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Shafi is also involved in local community service. He serves on the Board of Interfaith Council of Southern Nevada, Board of trustees of the Islamic Society of Nevada, and on the Board of Directors for the Islamic Information center, He is also a member of the founding Board of Council of American Islamic relations (CAIR-Nevada) and Islamic foundation of Nevada.

Dr. Shafi is the recipient of many awards. He received the  “Community Leadership” award from Citi-Group Financial Corporation. Dr.Shafi is also listed as one of America’s top doctors by Consumer’s Research Council of America. Dr. Shafi enjoys traveling, reading, fishing and spending time with his wife and their four children.
