Indian Classical Concert
Sur Taal of Las Vegas invites classical music enthusiasts to an evening of Indian classical music with three exemplary classical artists on Sunday, June 23rd, at 4:00 pm.
The trio, led by Pandit Amit Chakraborty on Vocal and accompanied by Aarchik Banerjee on Tabla & Chirag Dixit on Sarangi, will entertain the attendees by showcasing their immeasurable talent, highlighting the rich tradition of Indian classical music. The ‘Sur Taal’ team is holding its third concert of the year in a ‘baithak’ (sit-down) style at the spacious home of Nirmalya and Saroj Chatterjee, 10301 W. Tropical Pkwy, Las Vegas.
Pandit Chakraborty belongs to the famous Patiala Gharana of Hindustani classical music. He is a disciple of Ustad Raza Ali Khan, the grandson of legendary Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. Pandit Chakraborty is carrying on the rich tradition of the Patiala gharana through his lineage with the great maestro. Pandit Chakraborty is touring the United States and will conduct music workshops here in Las Vegas.
Young Aarchik Banerjee, who has also been touring the United States, is India’s rising brilliant tabla player. He is the son and disciple of the legendary tabla maestro Pandit Subhankar Banerjee.
Chirag Dixit is a disciple of the famous Sarangi maestro Pandit Pankaj Mishra of the Benares gharana.
IFAAN and the Sur Taal team, a not-for-profit organization, are dedicated to promoting Indian classical music in an intimate home setting. “India Fine Arts Association and Sur Taal will continue to promote Indian classical music in larger auditorium settings,” said Nirmalya Chatterjee, Chairman of IFAAN.
