Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners Revokes Medical License of Dr. Dhaval Shah
Nevada Medical Board has revoked Dr. Dhaval Shah’s medical license with immediate effect.
For the past couple of years, Shah has been constantly immersed in a couple of legal battles related to medical malpractice, patient deaths, and labor law violations. Earlier this year, Dr. Shah who has been licensed to practice in Nevada since 2007 and an owner of the Clinical Infectious Diseases Specialists, placed his medical license on inactive status.
In July 2019, the Investigative Committee of the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners filed a formal complaint under Nevada Revised Statutes charging Shah with one violation of malpractice and one violation of failure to maintain timely, legible, accurate and complete medical records. In March 2020, the Investigative Committee filed a second complaint charging Shah with the same violations as an earlier complaint.
Shah made an agreement with the Investigative Committee, later approved by the Medical Board to suspend his medical license. At the time of entering into the settlement agreement with the Board, the allegations of the complaints remain unproven. However, Shah acknowledged that the committee believes it has a reasonable basis to allege that Shah engaged in conduct that is grounds for disciplinary action by the Board. Shah has agreed to resolve the charges to avoid the costs related to litigation.
As per the agreement, Shah’s medical license is immediately revoked and will pay a fine of $10,000. Additionally, Shah has agreed to reimburse $23,347 for the actual cost related to the investigation. The agreement between the Board and Shah will be reported to the National Practitioner Data Bank
Shah is a graduate of M.P. Shah Medical College, Gujarat, and completed his residency & internship at North Shore University, Regopark, NY. Shah completed a fellowship in infectious diseases at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY.
On another note, Shah was represented by a former federal prosecutor Crane Pomerantz. Before joining the private law firm, Pomerantz was Chief of the White Collar unit and a Criminal Health Care Fraud Coordinator at the US Attorney’s Office. As an Assistant U.S. attorney, Pomerantz prosecuted Dr. Dipak Desai whom he called a “despicable human being” who was driven in medical practice by “wanton, crass greed.”

i was a lyme patient and was being treated by his PA with too much antibiotic that was not diluted correctly and landed in the hospital. Thought i was going to die..they never called me back now i know why…..
It’s funny and sad that the same attorney who called Desai despicable and greedy defended Shah who practiced medicine in the same way. Lawyers are just one notch below crooks in their work. Shah defrauded Medicare and Medicaid by millions and hasn’t paid any price.
If Deepak Desai did not fight battles in courts and did what Dhaval Shah has done to settle with the Board, Desai would be alive and FREE today!!
