NV Board of Medical Examiners suspend Dr. Vinay Bararia’s medical license
Due to an ongoing investigation of Dr. Vinay Bararia’s illegal drug sales to the federal agents and violating the pre-trial release conditions, the NV State of Medical Examiners has suspended Dr. Bararia’s license to practice medicine in the State of Nevada.
The suspension is based upon Dr. Bararia’s arrest on a criminal complaint for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. Complaint detailed five different undercover officer illegal purchases of controlled substances from Dr. Bararia.
In March 2013, as a condition of release, Dr. Bararia voluntarily surrendered his Drug Enforcement Administration certificate of registration and was probibited from ordering, possessing, dispensing or prescribing any controlled substances. During the subsequent months, Dr. Bararia violated the conditions of his pretrial release by ordering scheduled controlled substances. As a result, Dr. Bararia was re-arrested in early May fo violating the terms of his pretrial release and was sent to Federal detention center in Pahrump, NV.
In June, an indictment was issued against Dr. Bararia in the United States District Court, Nevada charging him with a conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, five counts of distribution of controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and five counts of conspiracy to distribute Oxycodone.
NV Board of Medical Examiners will have a hearing within forty-five days to determine whether this suspension may continue.
