Two Indian Americans Arraigned for Lewdness with Child Under 14

In two separate incidents, the Clark County law enforcement authorities have charged two Indian Americans with committing a lewd act against a child under the age of 14.

A. Metha/Mehta is charged on two counts of lewdness with a child under the age of 14.  On both counts, Mehta is accused of willfully, lewdly, and feloniously committing a lewd or lascivious act on a child by touching and/or rubbing and fondling with the intent of arousing. Earlier Mehta’s attorney requested third-party independent investigative services to provide effective representation as Mehta is facing multiple category A felonies ( and potential life sentences for each).  The judge in the case has approved Mehta to hire, at the taxpayer’s expense, a private investigative firm for investigation and trial preparation which is scheduled in November 2021.  As per the court documents, Mehta is indigent and unable to meet his financial obligations and is currently working for a smog check business.

In the second case, E. Singh was advised of the charges at the arraignment hearing held recently.  Singh is accused of willfully, lewdly, and feloniously committing a lewd act on a child under the age of fourteen years by touching the genital area with the intent of arousing and/or sexual desires.

As per the Nevada Revised Statutes, Lewdness with a Child as a person who is 18 years old or older, who willfully and lewdly touches a person (other than sexual assault) who is less than 16 years old with the intent of arousing, appealing to, or gratifying the lust or passions or sexual desires of that person or child.

Both, Mehta/Metha and Singh, are currently released on bail.
