Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners Announces Settlement in Malpractice Matter Involving Dr. Sanjay Vohra and Dr. Vatsala Kesavulu
The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners announces that a settlement has been reached in a medical malpractice matter involving Cardiologist Dr. Sanjay Vohra and Dr. Vatsala Kesavulu, a local Pediatrician. Earlier in the proceedings, in September 2025, Dr. Vohra was charged with one count of medical malpractice, while in July 2025, Dr. Kesavulu was investigated on two counts: medical malpractice and failure to maintain complete medical records, all in violation of the Medical Practice Act.
Per the agreement, Dr. Vohra and Dr. Kesavulu admitted to one count of medical malpractice. However, in Dr. Kesavulu’s case, the Board has dismissed the second count of failure to maintain complete medical records with prejudice.
Pursuant to the terms of the settlement, the following actions have been agreed upon:
Dr. Sanjay Vohra shall reimburse the Medical Board for the cost and expenses totaling $2,558 incurred in the investigation and prosecution, and for a fine totaling $7,500, within 60 days of the Board’s acceptance, adoption, and approval of an agreement. Additionally, Dr. Vohra is required to complete 6 hours of continuing medical education (CME) on the culture of safety in medical practice.
In Dr. Kesavulu’s case, Kesavulu shall reimburse the Medical Board for investigation costs totaling $4,348 incurred in the investigation and prosecution, along with a fine totaling $4,000. Both the investigation costs and the fine must be paid within 60 days of the Board’s acceptance of an agreement. Per the agreement, Dr. Kesavulu must complete 8 hours of continuing medical education (CME) on diagnosing and treating pulmonary embolisms within 6 months of accepting the agreement.
Both Dr. Vohra’s and Kesavulu’s agreements will be reported to the appropriate entities and parties as required by the Medical Practices Act, including to the National Practitioner Databank. Additionally, both Physicians will receive a letter of reprimand from the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners.
