Another Malpractice Lawsuit Filed Against Dr. Pankaj Bhatnagar
Another medical malpractice lawsuit has been filed against Dr. Pankaj Bhatnagar for a botched surgery.
Four months back a lawsuit was filed alleging that while performing hernia surgery on patient Michael Scinocca, Dr. Pankaj Bhatnagar removed patient’s testicles due to poor surgical technique.
In the second medical malpractice lawsuit filed last month it is alleged that during the operative procedure, Dr. Bhatnagar breached the standard of care, carelessly and negligently failed to provide proper care.
Plaintiff/Patient Ronna Robina was admitted to the Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center with a complaint of acute tract symptoms with a diagnosis of acute cholecystitis. After consulting, Dr. Bhatnagar scheduled Ms. Robina for a laparoscopic cholecystectomy on November 2014.
It is alleged that during the operative procedure, Dr. Bhatnagar breached the standard of care, carelessly and negligently failed to dissect, expose and identify the biliary anatomy before structures were clipped or transected. Additionally, he failed to dissect each structure to the serosa of the gallbladder. Due to this procedure, patient Robina suffered a transected common bile duct.
Dr. Pankaj Bhatnagar
Plaintiff Ronna Robbins and her attorney hired a Board Certified General Surgeon Physician Dr. Fred Simon who has been practicing acute care surgery in San Diego for the past 25 years. Dr. Simon has trained surgical and emergency room residents for the past 12 years. Dr. Simon reviewed the medical records and as per his report, the negligent acts and omissions by Dr. Pankaj Bhatnagar in this case are the breaches of the duty owed to patient Ronna Robina. It is a failure to perform a surgery safely by not following the standard of care technique in performing such an operation. In not doing so, he wrote, Dr. Bhatnagar negligently transected the common bile duct.
Dr. Simon further wrote that it is his expert opinion that the breaches in the standard of care of Dr. Bhatnagar were a proximate cause of the negligent transection of Ronna’s common bile duct requiring a more extensive operation. The patient/plaintiff also incurred a prolonged hospitalization and follow up care due to the botched surgery by Dr. Pankaj Bhatnagar.
