Holi Picnic Festivities Embrace Ghoomer Dance Under the Direction of Chandra Mehta

Chandra Mehta, Dance Director of Ghoomer in Las Vegas, is coordinating with over 100 local Indian-American women for a Ghoomer dance performance at the upcoming Holi Picnic.
Around the world and throughout history, women have come together in different types of groups to offer each other support and address barriers together. The power of these groups has been rooted in the solidarity that comes from a face-to-face connection.
The idea to do a Ghoomer dance in a group of 100 women or more was born with an intention to give an opportunity to women to come out, have fun and be part of a history.
Everybody knows that Ghoomar is from Rajasthan. But what’s special about it is the fact that it’s the first time so many women will gather to perform together.
Happiness and self love is very important. Dancing together, coming out to practice not only gives happiness but has encouraged positivity and hope among women. As days lengthen, the weather improves, and with Las Vegas opening Ghoomar dance has not only renewed social contact but as imagined has helped my idea to reverse any happiness decline women experienced during the pandemic.
Please do join us for the Holi celebrations and enjoy Ghoomar performance with 100+ women from our community.
