Dr. Minesh Piyush Amin, D.O., Reaches Settlement with the NV State Board of Osteopathic Medicine
In September 2021, the NV Board of Pharmacy entered a stipulation and order related to Dr. Amin, in where Amin admitted that, although he never was a medical director at Regenerate Me IV, evidence existed regarding his practice as a physician at a business called Regenerate Me IV that subjected his controlled substances registration with the NBOP subject to discipline.
Dr. Amin admitted and permitted registered nurses (RNs) to act under his authority to access, possess, and/or administer dangerous drugs through intravenous (IV) therapy without direct supervision and to patients with whom Amin had not established a bona fide relationship for whom he had neither diagnosed nor determined that a dangerous drug was medically necessary. Further, Amin admitted RNs and other unauthorized persons to have unrestricted access to the stock of dangerous drugs at Regenerate Me IV.
Dr. Amin also admitted he performed his duties as the holder of a controlled substances registration from the NBOP in an incompetent, unskillful, or negligent manner and engaged in unprofessional conduct contrary to the public interest in violation of Nevada laws.
Dr. Amin has entered into a settlement agreement & order and accepted it by the NV State Board of Osteopathic Medicine. The agreement is deemed and considered disciplinary action by the Board against Dr. Amin. As per the agreement Dr. Amin shall pay all the costs for the investigation and prosecution of this matter along with a fine totaling $2,500. Dr. Amin’s license will be on probation for a period of 2 years. Additionally, he may maintain his license on either active or inactive status throughout the term of probation.
As per the reached agreement, Dr. Amin may continue practicing at Regenerate Medical Concierge but arrange with the Board’s staff for a Practice Monitor to oversee and report on his work at the practice during the term of probation. Further, Dr. Amin shall not work in any practice other than Regenerate Medical Concierge in which he is the only physician and shall personally see and examine all new patients. The agreement also states Dr. Amin shall not serve as a supervising physician for any physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse. Should Dr. Amin fail to cure the non-compliance, Dr. Amin agrees his license in the State of Nevada may be automatically suspended.
Previously in another case, Dr. Amin plead guilty on one count of violation of the Nevada Revised Statutes. As per the guilty plea agreement in 2019, Dr. Amin agreed to 364 days in jail, which was suspended, three years of probation, and payment of investigative costs of $55,000 and 150 hours of community service. The case was related to where Dr. Amin submitted to Nevada Medicaid documents while he was the medical director for Comfort Hospice Care. In that case, he indicated that he had examined a patient and had determined that the patient was terminally ill and was, therefore, qualified for hospice services where Dr. Amin actually had not examined the patient. This particular case was prosecuted by the Nevada State Attorney General. Dr. Amin reimbursed the Board for its cost of investigation along with a fine totaling $2,500.
Dr. Amin is a graduate of Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine California. Amin was granted a license to practice medicine in Nevada in January, 2011.
