Federal authorities have charged Las Vegas resident A. Kumar with operating a vehicle. 2017 Hyundai, under the influence of drugs to a degree that rendered Mr. Kumar incapable of safe operation.

Kumar was observed traveling northbound along the River Mountain Loop Trail which is a narrow paved trail designated for bicycle and foot traffic and closed to motor vehicles.  The park ranger estimated Mr. Kumar was driving his Hyundai at about 40 miles per hour along the trail.  As reported, Kumar’s eyes were red, bloodshot and watery, his pupils appeared dilated, visibly sweating.  Kumar stated that he was nervous because he had recently been arrested for driving under the influence.

Kumar showed clues of impairment on both Standard Field Sobered Tests and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement Tests.  Additionally, Kumar’s blood sample found to contain a concentration of Marijuana Metabolite.

Kumar is also charged with the possession of controlled substance.
