Musical Evening Raised Over $5,000 to Support Indian Armed Forces

On March 30th, the local Las Vegas Indian Music Group hosted a musical evening event to raise much needed financial support for the victims of Pulwama, Kashmir terrorist attack. As per Subramaniam Vaikuntam, the lively evening raised over $5,000 due to generous donations from the attendees and business sponsors. The FREE entertaining evening was a tribute by the group of talented local singers to the vintage Bollywood music, the royalty of yesteryear and to the Indian armed forces.
The successful event put together by a volunteer team of dedicated and passionate members of the Indian community led by Subramaniam Vaikuntam along with Sweeni Singh, Jasmine Arolkar, Rekha Subramanian, Gopal Venkatraman, Jatinder Sharma, and Raj Velpuru. The entertaining Bollywood evening with yesteryear filmi songs along with the current hits was the part of fundraising. The evening reminded of as if the Bollywood royalty landed in Vegas at UNLV to lend a helping hand for a noble cause.
Along with the great entertainment, there was a wide array of Indian delicacies prepared and donated by the local Indian restaurants. Raffle tickets were sold for a chance to win gift cards donated by the Mint India Restaurant, which added new additional funds to the fundraising efforts.
There were about 20 singers and musicians. They were – Ananya Subramaniam, Dipa Daulat, Disha, Durgesh Deshmukh, Gopal Venkatraman, Jasmine Arokar, Jatinder Sharma, Nasir Khaliq, Milan Chatterjee, Nirmalaya Chatterjee, Rajendra Ingle, Raj Velpuru, Renu Mahajan, Sandip Thanki, Seema Ganesh, Sharlin Ahmed, Supriya Mirchandani, Sweta Verma, Subramaniam Vaikuntam, Vaneeta Kubal & Yatin Daulat.
The local business sponsors were – NY Life, Honor IT Solutions; food donations were provided by Rani India Market, Gopal India Market and the restaurants – Pure India Cuisine, Gandhi, India Palace, India Oven Masala, Urban Turban, and Delhi Restaurant.
During the concert, three ex-servicemen, Praveen Saran, Ted Saxman, and Ram Subramanian were recognized for their services who shared their experiences.
The group thanked Gurudwara Baba Deep Singh Ji of Las Vegas for providing the timely support for letting the committee collect checks in their favor and also letting people donate online on their website.
