In a meeting held recently, the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents approved the new employment contract of Desert Research Institute President Kumud Acharya for four years, ending on September 15, 2028. The new contract includes a $423,582 annual salary, a $8,000 car allowance, $24,000 in housing allowance, and a $5,000 host account per fiscal year. Kaashifah, an international student from Vijayawada, a small city in India, is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Education – Equity, Diversity and Language Education. After graduating from medical school in 2018, she took a bold step to relocate to Reno. University of Nevada – Reno, Ph.D. Student Anil Timilsina wins an award from the American Chemical Society
Anil Timilsina, a Ph.D. student in the Civil & Environmental Engineering department, has received the 2024 Graduate Student Award from the American Chemical Society Division of Environmental Chemistry. The award, announced in January, recognizes graduate students working in areas related to environmental chemistry and is based in part on research activity with emphasis on the student’s potential for future contributions as professionals in environmental chemistry and engineering.
