REMEMBERING A LAS VEGAS PIONEER

Pioneer is a person who blazes a new trail in any aspect of life. A pioneer may look as being alone, live lonely and outwardly appear lonesome, but inwardly he/she is possessed, rather pregnant with bubbling ideas. He is restless to deliver it out to the world. Settlers follow a trail blazer once a new ground is broken.  This line of thinking has been hovering over my mind since January 10, 2021 when I heard of the death of Ronan (Ranendra Nath Ghatak). Two days ago, after visiting his wifeRead More

Guest Author Sulekh Jain, Ph.D. – Our journey together is short, we don’t live here; we are just passing thru.

I was inspired to write this article by the following two brief stories or encounters. Our journey together is short  A young lady sat in a bus. At the next stop a loud and grumpy old lady came and sat by her. She squeezed into the seat and bumped her with her numerous bags. The person sitting on the other side of the young lady got upset, asked her why she did not speak up and say something.  The young lady responded with a smile: “It is not necessary toRead More

Guest Author Professor Satish Bhatnagar, Ph.D. – WHAT RAMANUJAN MEANS TO YOU?

This was the title of my keynote address that I delivered on Dec. 22, 2020 (10 AM, IST) at the one-day conference on the History and Development of Mathematics. This conference was organized and onlined by the Mathematics Department of Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana (est.1976).
