In an ongoing commitment and a quest for disseminating the Jain philosophy of peace and inner prosperity, Las Vegan Sulekh Jain, Ph.D., has been instrumental in raising millions to fund the formation of academic teaching and research Chairs in Jain Religion and Philosophy across the United States and India.

Sulekh Ji is pleased to announce that with efforts from his influential and committed circle of donors and friends, India’s elite educational institution, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), joins other universities in promoting Jainism studies.  BHU has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Jain Education Institutes Support (JEIS) to encourage academic studies and research in Jainism by establishing Bhagwan Shreyasnath Jain Study Fund.

As per Sulekh Ji, the BHU will receive a donation of over 1 Crore Indian Rupees (over USD 125,000).  A committee has been formed by the BHU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sudhir K. Jain, to implement the terms of the MOU.

As per Sulekh Ji, Indian-American Jain community has raised, committed and donated nearly $20 million, which is matched 2:1 with additional contribution of more than $40 million by all the partnering Universities.
