NV State Medical Board Files a Complaint Against Dr. Savita Chander, M.D.

The NV State Board of Medical Examiners Investigative Committee has filed a formal complaint against Dr. Savita Chander, M.D., with a reasonable basis to believe that Dr. Chander violated Nevada’s current Medical Practice Act.

The Investigative Complaint accuses Dr. Chander of two counts of violating statutes and regulations of the Nevada Revised Statutes related to medical practice in Nevada. The allegations include medical malpractice and violations of the standard of practice established by regulation.

The first count accuses Dr. Chander of malpractice, which the statutes define as a physician’s failure to treat a patient to use the reasonable care, skill, or knowledge ordinarily used under similar circumstances.

Dr. Savita Chander, M.D.

Per the complaint, a patient had spinal surgery and was transferred to a transitional care center and placed under the care of Dr. Chander. The patient was admitted to the care center with a high temperature and heart rate with below-average hygiene. The nursing staff at the center contacted Dr. Chander and left a message. After three hours, Dr. Chander returned the phone and was informed by the nursing staff of the patient’s high temperature and admitted diagnosis. It is alleged Dr. Chander failed to come into the transitional care facility to examine the patient herself, nor did she instruct the staff to transfer the patient to an emergency room. The following day, nursing staff coordinated the patient’s transfer back to the hospital. Two days later, the patient succumbed to complications from severe sepsis.

On the second count, Dr. Chander is allegedly charged with violating the standards of practice established by the regulation. As per the Medical Practice Act, a physician is required to seek consultation with another provider of health care in doubtful or difficult cases whenever it appears that consultation may enhance the quality of medical services. It is alleged Dr. Chander failed to seek consultation in a timely manner with regard to the patient’s serious medical issues. A timely consultation may have enhanced the quality of medical care provided to the patient with regard to the detection of his sepsis diagnosis.

It is alleged that Dr. Chander failed to use the reasonable care, skill, or knowledge ordinarily used under similar circumstances when rendering medical services to the patient by failing to appropriately examine or send the patient to the emergency room.

Dr. Savita Chander, M.D., graduated from the Lady Harding Medical College, Madras, India. She completed her internship and residency at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI.

Another Indian doctor in trouble for ethical violation. The widespread fraud among Indian doctors is Medicare and Medicaid billing. Many of them get caught, pay a small fine, keep millions, and live happily ever after. Shame on them.

We have same experience with Dr. Savita Chander. My husband in the SNF was treated very poorly. Does not even care for patient’s condition. We feel she has no skill of being a professional medical doctor. When a patient is not able to even stand & walk independently, she had ordered for discharged prematurely. It created more complications and up until now, it’s the same condition.

The director of all Doctors in one of the Insurance company – also Indian origin – same, not to treat patient in need, only “how to save money for the insurance company” Insurance company only talks big when it’s time for renewal. It does not want to honor those benefits as spelled out. Unfortunately, most of them are more interested in charging Medicare, not treating patients properly & discharging patients with an excuse ‘according to Medicare guidelines’. If Medicare has limit, sub insurance should take care of a patient in need.
