Pakistani American Hanadi Nadeem to Run for Open Nevada State Assembly Seat

A longtime resident of Las Vegas and political activist, Pakistani American Hanadi Nadeem, announced to run for an open Nevada State Assembly District 34 seat. Previously, the District was represented by Democrat Shannon Bilbray-Axelrod, daughter of former US Congressman Jim Bilbray. Hanadi Nadeem is married to a Pakistani American Physician, Nadeem Tariq. Although active in the extreme left political front, the announcement is the first attempt by Hanadi to seek a political office.

During the past two decades, the Nadeem family has donated over $271,000 to political candidates, parties, and political action committees. Democrats received almost all their contributions except three Republicans, who received $1,500 in political donations. Per the contribution reports, Nadeem donated over $164,600 to the Federal Candidates, $23,700 to the Pakistani American Public Affairs Committee, $35,600 to Democratic Services Corp., and over $43,500 to the local Nevada political races.

Nevada Assembly Democrats announced on X with the following statement: “Assembly Democrats are proud to endorse Hanadi Nadeem for AD-34. Hanadi is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and CEO of a healthcare clinic in Southern Nevada. She will work to lower healthcare costs, pass additional gun violence prevention laws, and build a stronger economy.”

Nadeem is the CEO of the Southern Nevada healthcare clinic Shifa Medical and is currently a Nevada State Equal Rights Commission board member.

Currently, out of a total of 45,000 active registered voters, the District has 35.18 percent active registered Democrats, 23.53 percent Republicans, and 34.17 percent non-partisan voters, with a balance with other minor parties. In 2022, Democratic candidate Shannon Bilbray-Axelrod received 56% of the total votes against the Republican candidate Stacy Butler. In the 2022 election, the voter turnout was below 50% of the active registered voters.

Republican Brandon Davis is challenging Hanadi for the AD34 open seat. As of today, there are no primary challengers from either side.
