Vasant Utsav by Students of the Nritya Academy of Indian Dances – FREE Concert

Nritya Academy of Indian Dances invites the community for a FREE concert on Sunday, April 16th, at the West Charleston Library, by the talented students of the academy. Students will showcase a kaleidoscope of vibrant Indian dance traditions and cultural heritage.
The FREE concert “Vasant Utsav” under the direction of Nritya Academy’s owner and creative director, Ms. Purbasha Banerjee, will showcase multiple Indian dances, from Southern India’s Kathakali to Bharatnatyam. Thirty-five students will be performing numerous dances featuring Baharnatyam, a Bollywood fusion, and folk dances from various regions of India.
Ms. Banerjee, with education and training from Kalabhumi, Guwahati, India, has over twenty-one years of teaching and performing Indian traditional dances. In 2001, Banerjee established Nritya Academy in Las Vegas to teach conventional Indian dances to the growing younger generation of Indian Americans. During the past twenty-plus years, Banerjee has trained hundreds of young Indian Americans who have performed on the Vegas stage with their particular sense of grace, knowledge & adherence to the best traditions of the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam.
