With ongoing and newly reported challenges related to COVID-19, the EKAL USA has informed the local chapters of canceling their annual fundraising activities across the United States.  The springtime has become an annual ritual for local chapters to engage the local Indian community in raising funds for EKAL schools in remote areas of India.

The Las Vegas chapters’ annual fundraiser concert was scheduled on Friday, April 3^rd with a group of performers from India with 2020 theme “Bharat ke Rang, Ekal ke Sang”.  This year, the EKAL performers came from the villages of India for performances across the major cities in the US. However, with the deteriorating situation and travel restrictions, all the artists and staff flew back to India for their own safety and for the safety of attendees & donors.

To fund the ongoing schools and various project for the next academic year, EKAL is appealing to the donors to donate online at www.ekal.org/donate  or please mail your donation check payable to ‘EKAL Vidyalaya Foundation’ and mail to EKAL Vidyalaya Foundation of USA,   P.O Box 821369, Houston, TX 77282-1369 

Arun Gupta, President of the Las Vegas chapter said, “I am personally appealing to the past donors to continue their generosity by donating to EKAL for continuous funding of much needed educational programs across rural India.”

All EKAL activities, in India and the United States, including the schools have been shut down until the end of March. The local Las Vegas chapter has been informed of no known cases of COVID-19 in the EKAL Villages across India. Additionally, the organization has shut down EKAL on wheels Computer Lab and Tailoring Centers until March 31^st, 2020.
