BoyzBot, an Indian-American Teenage Robotic Team Wins Nevada State Robotics Championship

In a recently held state-wide robotic competition the Indian-American team of teenagers won the Nevada State VEX Robotics Championship. 

The action-packed day engaged local Indian-American middle school students’ team BoyzBot in the 2021-2022 VEX IQ Challenge Pitching In, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation.The BoyzBot team comprised Arya Slavaji, Vineeth Erram, Vishaal Erram, Anirudh Polagani, Suyash Vangala, and Krish Sharma dedicated hundreds of hours to earn the honor of State Champion. The team coach Rekha Subramanian, Ph.D., organized, trained, and directed the group to compete against sixty-five other Nevada teams.  

In the VEX IQ Challenge, students, with guidance from their teachers and mentors, build a robot using simple, snap-together necessary parts to solve an engineering challenge that is presented each year in the form of a game. Teams work together to score points in Teamwork Matches and get to show off their skills individually in driver-controlled and programming Robot Skills Challenges.

BoyzBot has secured a spot to showcase their skills at the VEX Robotics World Championship the culminating event of the season that draws the best teams from across the country in an effort to be crowned World Champions in Dallas, TX.

In addition to building robots, the STEM Research Project component of the VEX IQ Challenge encourages students to actively explore an engineering challenge of their choice and share their research findings with event judges and their community.

The team is looking for a corporate/individual sponsorship to pay for their upcoming expenses including travel to Dallas, Texas.
