Suspended Attorney Malik Ahmad Charged with Domestic Violence

Las Vegas disbarred attorney Malik Waqar Ahmad is charged with the domestic violence and an assault with a deadly weapon, a category B Felony. Ahmad is accused of assault with use of a deadly weapon, a knife, by threatening Shahrukh Ahmad (relationship unknown). A public defender has been appointed at the request of defendant Malik Waqar Ahmad.
Ahmad is released on his own recognizance. According to the court filings, defendant Ahmad must stay out of trouble and has agreed to appear in court as required.
In 2019, the State Bar of Nevada suspended Ahmad for one year from practicing law in the State of Nevada due to the violations of Nevada Rules of Professional Conduct specifically communication; fees; safekeeping of property; and misconduct. During the hearing, one of the clients testified that she had a difficult time communicating with the Attorney.
Ahmad violated duties owed to his clients. As per the investigative report, the clients were harmed because they were not provided their funds and they were never informed of the amount they had received or provided an invoice from Ahmad documenting his billed hours so they were unable to contest whether he earned the full amount he retained. Ahmad was ordered to pay the cost of investigation along with a $2,500 in administrative cost. In November 2014, Ahmad was publicly reprimanded for mishandling of three client’s residential loan modification applications during the financial crisis from 2009 through 2012. In one instance, a check bounced from an Attorneys’ trust bank account.
