A. P. Aggarwal Pleads Guilty to Child Abuse

A. P. Aggarwal has plead guilty to Child Abuse, Neglect, or Endangerment. The charges included Aggarwal causing a physical injury of nonaccidental nature by striking a child, approximately 15 years of age, with a three-foot piece of PVC pipe.
Aggarwal’s decision to plead guilty is based upon provided he is not deemed a high risk to reoffend pursuant to the danger evaluation, and the State will not oppose probation at the rendition of the sentence. Additionally, the plea agreement calls for if Aggarwal fails to appear at any subsequent hearings, the State will have the unqualified right to argue for any legal sentence.
As part of the plea agreement, Aggarwal may be imprisoned in the Clark County Detention Center for not more than 364 days and may be fined up to $2,000. Aggarwal may not be eligible for probation unless a licensed psychologist and/or psychiatrist evaluation certifies that he does not represent a high risk to reoffend.
The Division of Parole and Probation will prepare a report for the sentencing judge prior to sentencing. Sentencing is set for November, 2022.
