Las Vegas Resident Ramchand Rattan Arrested for Making Racist and Terroristic Threats
Per the multiple published news reports, Las Vegas resident Ramchand Rattan was arrested for making racially amplified threat to blow up St. George Costco.
Rattan was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team on a warrant issued out of Washington County, Utah. Rattan was apprehended in Las Vegas and is currently awaiting extradition to Utah to face his charges. Presently, Rattan is locked up at the Clark County Detention Center.
Detectives uncovered that Rattan’s phone number was tied to a near-identical incident in May 2025 involving threatening, racially charged calls to a St. George Ford dealership. Detectives used phone records and surveillance footage to match Rattan to driver’s license photos of incidents at multiple regional businesses.
As reported by multiple news media outlets, Investigators stated that Rattan placed four calls to the St. George Costco, threatening to “light [them] up like a BBQ” and send people to the store to handle the situation if Black and gay employees were not terminated. Surveillance video from both Costco and the car dealership showed Rattan physically visiting both Utah businesses with a friend just one day before the threatening calls began.
Police interviewed the longtime friend seen in the surveillance footage. She informed detectives that Rattan suffers from an undiagnosed mental illness, has a history of making these types of calls, and has long-standing biases against African Americans and the LGBTQ+ community.
Rattan is charged with a second-degree felony for terrorism involving a hoax weapon of mass destruction and electronic communication harassment.
