Assemblyman Reuben D’Silva Launches 2026 Campaign with High-Energy Kickoff Event
Although the primary elections are still over eight months away in June 2026, the political races across Nevada are already heating up. Indian-American State Assemblyman Reuben D’Silva officially launched his re-election campaign at a vibrant and jubilant kickoff event that felt more like a victory celebration than a campaign start.

More than 75 enthusiastic supporters packed a local restaurant to show their support. D’Silva expressed his gratitude to his student – now a successful young entrepreneur – who hosted the evening at his restaurant, Birrieira El Zarape in Assemblyman D’Silva’s District 28. “The host’s family, who began with just one restaurant, now owns five establishments across the valley, a testament to hard work and community support,” said D’Silva
“I feel good about going into the next election cycle,” D’Silva said during his remarks. “You know, my big focus has always been – and always will be – education, as I am a teacher.” He continued, “We will have affordable health care — and hopefully, one day, free health care,” drawing applause from the attendees. Further, D’Silva emphasized the importance of safe neighborhoods and safe communities, along with a commitment to diversifying Nevada’s economy.

“In the end, the goal is prosperity – with money in the pockets of our families – to make sure Las Vegas is the greatest city in the world.” D’Silva also highlighted the need for strong civic engagement: “It’s supremely important for all of us to get involved with our communities – getting young people involved, getting your parents and grandparents involved, and showing up to vote.”
Several Democratic elected leaders, including former Congressman Reuben Kihuen, attended the campaign kickoff. Additionally, a few members of the Indian community were present, along with scores of enthusiastic campaign volunteers eager to send D’Silva back to Carson City.
