Anjala Krishen Named Chair of UNLV’s Department of Marketing and International Business

UNLV Executive Vice President and Provost Chris Heavey, Ph.D. is pleased to appoint Anjala Krishen, Ph.D. as the Chair of the Department of Marketing and International Business, commencing her service at the beginning of the next academic year. 

“We are looking forward to seeing the continued growth of the department under Anjala’s leadership”, said Gary Sanders, Dean, UNLV Lee Business School.

Anjala holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rice University, and three graduate degrees including an M.S. in Marketing, MBA, and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. Before pursuing a doctorate, she held numerous senior management corporate positions for 13-years.

Anjala has served as the Director of the UNLV MBA program since January 1, 2020. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on prosocial behavior including adolescent e-cigarette smoking cessation, water reuse management, consumer safety, and consumer privacy. Additionally, her work in the digital and interactive marketing domain includes social media usage, artificial intelligence, and the interplay of media. To date, Anjala has 76 accepted or published manuscripts.

Anjala has received both research and teaching awards including the UNLV Foundation Distinguished Teaching award (2015), the Barrick Scholar Award (2016), the Harold and Muriel Berkman Research Grant Award (2016), the UNLV Alumni Association Outstanding Faculty Recipient (2019), and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award (2022).

In 2019, she co-edited a book entitled, Marketing and Humanity: Discourses in the Real World, which included authors from all over the world and many were junior faculty and graduate students.  Anjala’s Google scholar profile shows that her h-index is 26 with 2295 citations. 

As of 2022, Anjali has completed over 70 marathons, seven ultramarathons, six 100(+) milers, and holds a black belt in Taekwondo.  In 2016, she gave a TEDx Talk at UNR based on her research entitled, “Opposition: The Light Outside of the Dark Box.”

Anjala’s three-year term as Department Chair will begin July 1, 2022. Anjala is married to a fellow UNLV Professor Eduardo Robleto, Professor of Life Sciences and Chair of Nevada IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence.
