Dr. Rupesh Parikh at the Forefront of Cancer Treatment and Research in Las Vegas
“The greatest breakthrough in cancer care isn’t treating cancer; it’s preventing it,” Dr. Parikh said. “Nevada continues to lag behind the nation in critical cancer screening rates, and far too many cancers are still being diagnosed at advanced stages. When cancer is found early, survival rates can improve dramatically, often exceeding 90 percent for many common cancers. If we want to save more lives, reduce suffering, and lower healthcare costs, we must make cancer prevention and screening a statewide priority.”
Terri Moore deals with cancer patients on a daily basis through her work at Comprehensive Cancer Centers. She never expected that one day she would be one of them.
The 66-year-old Moore, who has been at the center for nearly 15 years and works as a patient benefit representative helping with insurance, had what she thought was a routine annual mammogram in August 2025, followed by an ultrasound that revealed an abnormality. She had received similar findings before, only to learn they were nothing.
“I had abnormal mammograms before, and so I was not trying to feed into it,” Moore said. “But in my spirit, I felt something wasn’t right.” This time was different when a biopsy came back positive.
Comprehensive Cancer Centers, she said she wanted Dr. Rupesh Parikh to be her oncologist. After seeing Terri, he diagnosed her with aggressive HER2 cancer in the left breast.
