Intoxicated and Hallucinating Sonjeev Singh Arrested on Charges of Attempted Murder of Metro Officer. Standoff ended peacefully.
In the wee hours of the morning on May 22nd, 2021, a phone call was made regarding a person with a gun in the Summerlin neighborhood. The officers responded to the call and the metro officer fired one round during the incident. Metro disclosed the suspect Sanjeev aka Sam Singh. Sanjeev’s wife made the phone call stating that her husband is intoxicated and hallucinating, and is armed with firearms. After the phone call, Sanjeev’s wife left the home with their son and met the cops outside the house.
Several shots were heard from inside the residence. Metro cops barricaded the home immediately and called for additional backup. Singh stepped out at his second-story balcony and fired at the cops. At that time metro officer fired one round towards Singh. Singh allegedly continued shooting from inside the residence, until the officers were relieved by SWAT.
Later Singh stepped out of the house and placed his gun on the front lawn and went inside. Singh was arrested peacefully when he stepped out in the backyard and jumped into the rear wall in his neighbor’s backyard.
During the incident, Singh was armed with a 12-gauge shotgun and a 9mm handgun. During the execution of a search warrant, cops found two other firearms in his residence.
Sanjeev is booked into the Clark County Detention Center and is charged with two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon on a police officer, three counts of discharging a firearm within a structure within a prohibited area along with the additional three counts of discharging a firearm in an occupied structure.
