Mandeep Singh and Jaspreet Kaur Evicted

In an ongoing saga of multiple legal cases against the husband-wife duo, Mandeep Singh and Jaspreet Kaur, the management company of their primary residence was forced to evict the couple for non-payment of monthly rent. As per the court filings, the management company demanded over $6,000 in past-due rent and penalty and served a 7-day notice to pay rent or quit. Singh and Kaur failed to answer the 7-day notice within the statutory mandated time.

The Henderson Justice Court issued the order for Summary Eviction. Fifteen days after the order was issued, Singh and Kaur filed an appeal against the summary eviction in the District Court. As per Nevada statutes, the District Court is not the appropriate venue to accept additional evidence related to the Summary Eviction and related proceedings beyond that presented before the lower court.
In appealing the justice court ruling, Mandeep wrote, “We are moving out on or Before APRIL 16th. We Just need 5-6 Days until our new address [sic] is all Ready.” Further, Singh in his defense, stated, “PLEAS HELP ME AS WE want to stay in this property and Iam willing to pay All Rent. PAST DUE and Everything [sic].” See below.
The District Court reviewed the appeal and found that the tenants, Singh and Kaur, were properly served with the notice of eviction and did not file an affidavit/answer to the complaint. Further, the duo provided no legal defense to the non-payment of rent. Upon review of the record, the court found sufficient evidence to support the order of summary eviction as Singh and Kaur did not provide legal defense to the non-payment of rent.
