Three Students Named National Merit Scholarship Winners

 

National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced three Indian American students from Las Vegas the winners of National Merit Scholarships fi nanced by U.S. colleges and universities. 

The students are Chaitanya Ingle – Clark High, Deepal Patel – Clark High and Steven Chacko – Green Valley High 

Chaitanya Ingle is graduating from the magnet program of the local public Clark High School is planning to pursue a career in Computer Science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, NV.

Deepal Patel, also a graduate of Clark High is planning to join Biomedical Engineering program at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA.

Steven Chacko is graduating from Green Valley High.  Steven is joining University of Nevada, Reno, NV to pursue a career in Medicine.

Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

This year, 184 higher education institutions are underwriting Merit Scholarship awards through the National Merit Scholarship Program.

College-sponsored Merit Scholarship winners announced are a part of the distinguished group of about 7,600 high school seniors who will receive National Merit Scholarships for college undergraduate study worth approximately $34 million.

Earlier Green Valley High graduate Amar Shah, who is going to Cornell University, was named a National Merit $2,500 scholarship winner.
