NV STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS FILES A COMPLAINT AGAINST DR. SACHIT PRIYA DAS, M.D.
The Investigative Committee of the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners has a reasonable basis to believe that Dr. Sachit Priya Das, M.D., has violated the Nevada Medical Practices Act.Per the complaint, Dr. Das is accused of one count of Medical Malpractice and another of failure to maintain complete medical records.
Per the report, a patient was admitted to the Mountainview Hospital for abdominal pain, nausea, and malaise. While at the Mountainview, the patient was found to have an elevated white blood cell count, indicative of possible infection, and blood urea nitrogen and creatine, both indicative of possible mild kidney infection. After a couple of days, the patient was discharged and moved to the Heights of Summerlin, a skilled nursing facility, for rehabilitation.
Dr. Das, an internist at the Heights of Summerlin, assumed care of the said patient. Dr. Das noted multiple issues with the patients, including but not limited to debility, diabetes, hypertension, urinary incontinence, and chronic kidney disease. The patient’s lab results showed elevated levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA), indicating possible prostatitis. It is alleged that Dr. Das repeatedly examined the patient; however, Dr. Das’s notes from these examinations were limited and contained only brief and limited physical examinations.
Due to the patient’s lack of response to treatment, possibly indicating sepsis, Dr. Das had the patient discharged and transferred to Summerlin Hospital for further evaluation, where the emergency physician documented other issues impacting the patient’s health. Per the investigative report, the patient passed away after suffering from cardiac arrest due to multiple health-related problems.
On the second count, it is alleged that Dr. Das failed to maintain complete medical records relating to the patient’s diagnosis, treatment, and care by failing to document his actions when he treated the patient.
Dr. Sachit Priya Das, M.D., graduated from the prestigious Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, India. He completed his internship and residency at the Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
