R.D. Prabhu, M.D. Attend Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Address to U.S. Congress

Las Vegas resident R.D. Prabhu, M.D. attended Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the joint session of the U.S. Congress. The next day, Prabhu also had an opportunity to participate in a luncheon hosted by Vice-President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, honoring Indian PM Modi. Notable Indian-American corporate honchos and lawmakers attended the luncheon along with Ambani and other members of the Indian delegation.
“I was honored to witness history as PM Modi was invited a second time to address the Joint Session of the U.S. House and Senate,” Prabhu said, adding, “I was invited in 2016 when he was invited the first time. His speech was very well received and lawmakers applauded 32 times (I counted it).” He continued, “I had the good fortune of being invited twice to State Dinners hosted by U.S. Presidents to honor India. First was in 2000 when President Clinton invited PM Vajpayee. Second was the first ever State Dinner hosted by President Obama honoring PM Manmohan Singh.”

Dr.Prabhu makes big donations to Democrats and Republicans.
Dear Sony, I am sure an honest good man like you will appreciate the fact that Dr Prabhu has all the rights to do WHATEVER HE LIKES with his very hard earned money.
And all of us, like you have exercised, have the right to comment on public forums such as this about anybody and anything we like. And, Right now I am doing exactly the same but replying to your comments, and with utmost respect for your right to say whatever you like.
But a bit of judicious thinking by all of us could make the reading interesting and gracious if we think before pressing the Post or Send button.
Once Dalaai Laamaa was quoted to have said, Quote “A SMART MAN KNOWS WHAT TO SAY, ALL THE TIME. A WISE MAN KNOWS WHETHER TO SAY IT AT ALL OR NOT” Unquote
Your comment about Dr Prabhu’s lack of Generosity with needy people with HIS HARD EARNED MONEY probably comes without knowing who Dr Prabhu really is. Since you don’t know him COMPLETELY, I would have expressed those sentiments you have expressed by asking a question “DOES HE DO ANYTHING FOR THE POOR AT ALL”, instead of making a categorical misstatement void of any knowledge of who Dr Prabhu really is.
Let me tell everyone who reads this newsletter that
1. I know Dr Prabhu since I moved to LV in 1995. That’s a lot of years. I know him from very close quarters. I know his family, employees (who are also his family to him), his associates (Present and past) and his DETRACTORS. They all speak to me but in privacy.
2. Dr Prabhu has helped me a lot, a LOT with medications & treatment when we had no medical insurance and I had no means to pay cash and many times with contributions to many of my public projects endeavors and even personally with financial help whenever I needed it. Till I established myself in LV, he was like a God. And here is the best part of Dr Prabhu. Until now he has never asked me to do anything for him.
3. I have met quite a few poor people who narrated the stories about his largess and helping nature without expecting anything in return from the poor
4. He has donated enormous amounts of his hard earned money as part of his philanthropic endeavor to various public charitable projects
5. Many of the doctors who have a very good practice and lifestyle today have told me that without Dr Prabhu’s help it would have been very difficult for them to be where they are today
6. He has his political likes and dislikes and so do I, like all Americans. But I have seldom seen a man who is so comfortable with people who hate his politics. I have personally seen him helping without expecting anything in return, people who oppose his political views. And this extremely smart individual does it without any expectations knowing pretty well that they hate his views on any given issue only because HE UNDERSTANDS THEM AS GOOD PEOPLE WITH DIFFERENT VIEWS.
7. Children represent what kind of father they had and EMPLOYEES REPRESENT what kind of an employer Dr Prabhu or any other employer is. Some of Dr Prabhu’s employees are with him for over 25 years. That alone should speak eloquently who he is. In today’s world how many people do we know who have worked for a private employer like this Dr for more than 10 years?
So my request to all who read Vegasdesi is,
A. If we have any relationship to Indian culture, LET US BE KIND IN WORDS ABOUT OTHERS EVEN IF PEOPLE FROM SOME OTHER CULTURES MAY FEEL INDIANS ARE INSIPIDUS or Docile when it comes to controversial subjects. It is generally Indians’ forte to express very hard feelings with very kind malleable words. When one is not known to us completely before categorically accusing that person or his actions or lack of it, please format the statement like a question like I have done above.
Please be judicious while writing comments on others. PLEASE.
I sent my comments already
THANK YOU DR PRABHU FOR ADVANCING THE INTEREST OF MOTHER INDIA .
I have known Dr. Prabhu both personally and professionally for 25 years and seen his commitment to not only the Indian community but the Las Vegas community firsthand.
He’s helped Indians get jobs and given them jobs. He recruits highly qualified Indian physicians to Las Vegas. He helps Indians get visas. He donates to Indian (and non-Indian) charities. He’s donated to victims of 9/11 and earthquakes in India, Pakistan and The Philippines. He donates college scholarships.
He’s called “Rain Man” by India Abroad because he connects visiting Indian Ambassadors and other dignitaries from India with US Senators, Congressmen and Congresswomen.
I watched him send 15 oxygen concentrators to India during Covid-19 Pandemic. You cannot accomplish everything he’s done through mere donations to Democrats and Republicans.
It reminds me of the story about the man who came across a fisherman who dug three holes on the beach to put the crabs he caught in. He had lids on two of the holes to keep the crabs from getting out no lid on the third hole. When the man asked why the third hole didn’t have a lid so, the fisherman said, “Those are Indian crabs. Once a crab tries to climb up, all other crabs in the hole will pull it down.”
Let’s support, not tear down, one another. We are stronger together!

I and Dr. Prabhu hail from the state of Andhrapredesh in India. During my growing up years, his last name is well known in many circles because his grand father “ Rachakonda Viswanatha Sastry “ was appointed as a State’s poet in the State of Andhrapredesh. Dr. Prabhu is a good man.
Correction: States Poet Laureate.
Its a free country. Dr. Prabhu has all the right to do whatever he wants to do with his money. NO details needed.
Prabhu has been living up to his name, Prabhu ever since I have come to know him since he and his wife Lata moved to Las Vegas in 1979.
