2022 PRIMARY ELECTION ENDORSEMENTS
Since 2015 this publication has endorsed candidates for various local, state, and national political races. This year is no different, with vegasdesi endorsing the candidates below in the primary election.
First and foremost, vegasdesi is endorsing all the Indian sub-continent candidates irrespective of party affiliation. The three South Asian candidates, Educator Reuben D’Silva, a candidate for State Assembly District 28; Neurosurgeon Aury Nagy, M.D. for Regent State University District 7 and Small Business Owner Sayed Zaidi, for State Assembly District 42, understand the issues impacting our community and have impressive credentials for an elected office.
vegasdesi.com election advisory panel members consisting of a Democrat, Republican, and an independent, have a broad, diverse political experience & an in-depth knowledge of the local politics. The endorsements below result from active interactions with many candidates, reviewing their professional and personal background and their views on issues impacting Sothern Nevada’s growing Indian sub-continent community.
This election year, some of the primary races will be super-close due to ever-changing demographics, redistricting, and the current economic situation. Redistricting has made some of the races more competitive due to changing voter registration patterns with non-partisan voters gaining the upper hand in electing a candidate.
Starting this year, Nevada will have all-mail ballot elections. In-person voting options will still be available. For the first time beginning this election year, all active voters who registered to vote no later than 14 days before Election Day will receive their ballot in the regular mail unless they opt-out of mail ballot. In-person early voting starts Saturday, May 28th, and ends on Friday, June 10th, followed by in-person voting on election day, Tuesday, June 14th, 2022.
Please exercise your constitutional right to vote if you are a US citizen; however, you must register to vote with the County election office. In Nevada, you only lose your right to vote if you are currently incarcerated for a felony conviction. As per the Department of Justice, pretrial detention, misdemeanors, probation, and parole do not restrict your voting rights. If you lost your voting rights because of a prior conviction, you can register to vote immediately after your release.
