Diva Saxena Named Winner of the National Merit Scholarship financed by Vanderbilt University

Diva Saxena, a graduate of Ed. W. Clark High School is named the university-sponsored National Merit Scholarship winner.

Diva joined the elite group of four Indian-American students who were earlier named college-sponsored National Merit Scholarship winners.  Beginning this fall, Saxena plans to pursue an Economics and Human & Organizational Development degree at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee.

At Clark, Saxena was the co-president of DECA, formerly Distributive Education Clubs of America, captain of the Clark’s Speech and Debate team, national merit finalist, and international DECA Champion.  Additionally, in May 2024, the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce bestowed Saxena with an educational scholarship for her academic achievements and community service.

In an unstoppable quest for continued educational achievements, the local children of the Indian-American community are achieving indescribable heights.  This year, unprecedented numbers of South Asian students were short-listed and named winners of the prestigious National Merit Scholarship.

Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution.  These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
