Dr. Ravishankar Srinivas Konchada, M.D. Settles with NV Board of Medical Examiners

In February 2022, the Investigative Committee of the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners filed a formal Complaint against Dr. Konchada, M.D. alleging two (2) violations of Nevada Revised Statutes Count I: Alleges a violation of Malpractice and Count 2: Alleges a violation of Standards of Practice Established by Regulation.
The patient (name withheld) was seen by Dr. Konchada at the St. Rose Dominican Hospital, St. Martin Campus, complaining of severe headache, slurred speech, and right-hand weakness. The patient had a CT Scan and later an MRI. Dr. Konchada wrongly interpreted the report, and the patient suffered a severe stroke. It is alleged that Dr. Konchada’s failure to interpret the MRI report correctly and in a timely manner put the patient in a situation where it was too late for treatment.

Additionally, the law requires a physician to seek consultation with another healthcare provider in doubtful or difficult cases whenever it appears that consultation may enhance the quality of medical services. It is alleged Dr. Konchada failed to timely seek consultation with regard to the patient’s medical condition.
Dr. Konchada acknowledges that the Investigative Committee believes it has a reasonable basis to allege that he was engaged in conduct grounds for discipline. Dr. Konchada has agreed to resolve and settle the above allegations without a hearing and without the right to judicial review. Additionally, Dr. Konchada agrees to resolve this matter to avoid the costs of a hearing and potential subsequent litigation.
As per the settlement agreement, Dr. Konchada will reimburse the cost ($4,500) of the investigation to the Medical Board, pay a fine in the amount of $1,500, and take 8 hours of continued medical education related to image reading. Dr. Konchada will receive a public letter of reprimand from the Board and will be reported to all the regulatory agencies, including the national practitioner data bank. If Dr. Konchada fails to comply with the settlement terms, the Investigative Committee shall be authorized to immediately suspends Dr. Konchada’s license to practice medicine in Nevada.
