Hindu & Jain Temple of Las Vegas – Town Hall Meeting to Address the Community Concerns

After the long delays in seeking answers from the Board of Trustees for their engrossing mismanagement of the Hindu and Jain Temple of Las Vegas (Mandir), over two hundred community members signed the petition for a special meeting. This publication was informed that organizers planned on holding a meeting on November 16 at the Mandir’s back patio.

Finally, after the quintuple squad has been sweating in their skivvies for the past few months, the Board has decided to heed the community’s concerns. These included the misuse of donor funds on legal expenses, the declining attendance at mandir events, and the lack of Diwali festivities, among other grievances. Mandir Chairman Gopi Latpate recently emailed the community about the Saturday, December 14, 2024, meeting. However, Latpate asks the community to submit their questions before the meeting. Moreover, some members are concerned about why the chairman is calling the meeting; it’s the responsibility of the president to call such community meetings. The chairman has no role in the day-to-day operations of the Mandir.

After learning of an official meeting via email, the community group decided to postpone their meeting to hear from management.

This publication has informed the community of mismanagement, lawsuit, settlement agreement, frivolous use of donors’ money, and more for the past year. For the past several months, there was no communication from the management on the lawsuit and lack of financial and administrative transparency till this publication informed the community of the decision by a few Board members – “the quintuple squad” to file a lawsuit against a few members of the Board of Trustees and executive committee. The same five agreed to use Mandir’s $200,000 plus for legal expenses. In return, this publication is threatened with legal action via a letter from the Mandir’s attorney for informing the community of the information based on public records. This threat is another example of wasteful, egregious expenditure by the management and Board at the expense of hard-working donors.

Below is the formal invite from Mandir’s Chair, Gopi Latpate.

This will be like a townhall meeting by an indicted politician. No answers, just wasted words worth watered wine.
