Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo announced the appointment of Tina Talim, Esq., to a recently vacated Clark County District Court Department 14 seat by Judge Adriana Escobar, who decided to retire. Talim, who currently serves as the Team Chief of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Unit in the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, immigrated to the United States from India as a young child. Talim is the first South Asian person to hold a judicial position in Nevada.

On June 3, 2024, the Commission on Judicial Selection nominated finalist Ms. Tina Talim, Esq., for the judicial position and forwarded Ms. Talim’s candidacy to Governor Lombardo for an appointment.

“Tina has nearly two decades of experience working in the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, and her expertise will be a valuable asset to the Eighth Judicial District Court,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “I’m confident that Tina will execute her duties as judge faithfully and serve her fellow Nevadans with integrity.”

“I am grateful to Governor Lombardo for this appointment and deeply honored to serve as a judge in the Eighth Judicial District Court,” said Judge Talim. “This appointment is not only a personal milestone, but it serves as a testament to the broadening representation within our judicial system. I look forward to serving our community from the bench.”

In her current role, she has prosecuted numerous felony drug trafficking cases, while simultaneously serving as the District Attorney’s Director of Diversity and Community Outreach. Talim earned her bachelor’s degree from University of California, Los Angeles and her J.D. from the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law.

Judge Talim will begin her term on June 20, 2024. As the appointment is made during the middle of the election season, there will be a special filing season for Department 14 for judicial candidates to file to run for office. The special filing period is from July 17 – July 26. To continue serving the community as a Judge, Ms. Talim will be on the ballot in the November general election.
