A Clark County jury has reached a verdict in the medical malpractice case brought by the family of Yea Hwa Kim against Dr. Neel Dhudshia and other defendants. The lawsuit was filed on October 27, 2022, and proceeded to a jury trial beginning June 2026. The case had been pending for nearly four years before reaching trial. The plaintiffs allege medical negligence arising from the treatment of Kim. Following the trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the Kim family. Jury of eight individuals and two alternates came up with the judgement of $33.94 million against Dr. Dhudshia. It took less than three hours for the jury to come up with the verdict in favor of Kim family.

The case remains active in the trial court following the verdict. Court records show that the defendants, represented by the law firm Hutchison and Steffen, have challenged the plaintiffs’ proposed judgment and have participated in post-verdict briefing and hearings. As of September 30, 2026, the publicly available docket reflects ongoing proceedings concerning entry of judgment.

The jury verdict represents a significant development in litigation that began with the family’s October 2022 filing, but the post-verdict proceedings remain ongoing and could affect the final judgment and subsequent appellate proceedings.

There are currently two other ongoing medical malpractice cases in which Dr. Neel Dhudshia has been named as a defendant.

Dr. Neel Dhudshia earned his Doctor of Medicine degree and completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.
