Friends of India Revisits 2019 – Guest Author Mahendra Mehta, President, Friends of India

It is my great pleasure to share with you the highlights of a very successful 2019 for Friends Of India.
At the same time, I invite you to our upcoming Holi event on March 22, 2020.
About a year ago during the 2019 Holi event, I and my high-performance team was elected unopposed to the executive committee of Friends Of India. The new team was welcomed and blessed with immense support from our growing Indian community. The new executive committee experienced a renewed interest by the community at Friends of India events.
2019 saw a significant increase in attendance at the colorful Holi picnic, patriotic independence day celebrations, and Diwali gala event. Friends of India was fortunate to improve the revenue stream with a significant increase in advertising revenue for our Diwali magazine along with a few anonymous donations from the community members. At the same time, the club was able to reduce expenses by moving the Diwali event venue to a less expensive but beautiful location.
The new ideas and concepts like patriotic play, performing regional dances, involving children, etc. to engage community was introduced. At our successful 2019 Diwali event, we had more than 100 participants performing and everyone loved the kids’ fashion show. The executive committee is looking forward to a promising 2020 and has a planned range of exciting events for the community.
We are looking forward to your continued support. Please attend, participate, contribute and advertise in our Diwali magazine. Your engagement and generous donations are critical to successful 2020.
